We are car enthusiasts whose hobby literally got out of hand. As a result a good friend of ours has created this website to display cars that we have for sale and to sell cars for other people.
While searching the USA for our own cars we built up a network of contacts that cover most of the USA. We have friends in California. Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Chicago and Minneapolis who all have their own network of local contacts. We started being offered cars from barns and garages all over the US and were tempted by more than we could justify to our wives. As a result we started clearing out and this website was the best way of showing what we had.
We then offered to display cars belonging to friends of ours and people we have got to know through our hobby. If you would like to advertise your car or project on our site then please get in touch, if the car is bought through the site we can negotiate a few beers I am sure!
There are also on the site cars offered to us by our contacts in the US that are owned by them. These cars are not advertised anywhere else, either in the US or UK. If you want to buy one of these cars we can ask our contacts to arrange the internal US transport and we can put you onto the agent we have used to ship from the USA.
We are often asked if we can use our contacts to find specific cars for friends and fellow enthusiasts. We are willing to do this but we cannot guarantee success or quality. We will make your requirements known to our contacts then it is up to you to deal with them. We are happy to assist with any questions or problems you have. We may also be able to help you arrange inspection visits and reports. Please call us to discuss how this can work for you.
WHY NO SHINY CARS FROM THE US????????
Experience, and that can be costly, has taught us that buying a shiny car from the US can be a big mistake. Of course there are cars out there that have been restored and painted as we would do in Europe, but they are the exception rather than the rule. Often in the US a 'restoration' consists of a respray and new carpets. A US respray is unlikely to be a bare metal respray or even 'a good rub down', common practice is to smear filler, or 'bondo' as they call it, all over the bodywork and then rub that smooth before painting.
If you live in a dry warm climate then this paint job will last you up to ten years and the car will look fine. In a North European climate it will take only one winter for all the blisters to start coming through and your lovely car will soon be looking like its about to fall apart. And when you do come to paint it you will discover the 'bondo' all over it and the cost of removing it all and doing the job properly will be huge.
Therefore we personally would rather buy a car that is showing all its faults, warts and all, so that there are no problems hiding away that are not visible. We would encourage anyone buying a car from the US to go and see it, poke it with a screwdriver and satisfy themselves that the photos and descriptions are accurate.
